Use home widgets

Choose your overview cards, understand their data and periods, and explore a result in Ask Parable.

The home Overview collects quick signals about your organization. Choose the cards useful to your work, then open a card to explore its result in a fresh Ask Parable conversation.

Open the overview

Check the selected organization, open home, and choose Overview. Other home tabs include Attendance, Giving, Demographics, Groups, Flows, and Custom; this guide covers the Overview widget cards.

The home Overview and chat both require permission to view chats; without it, you may land on another page or see a permission message. Loading widget data additionally requires data-view access. Giving widgets are shown only with Summary or Full giving access; individual giving details can require Full access even when you can see a summary card.

The cards use imported data and calculated summaries. Connect the relevant source and let its import finish before interpreting missing results. A missing source, restricted access, a failed load, and a genuine zero are different situations. Check your permissions and sync progress when needed.

Arrange your own cards

  1. On Overview, select the dashboard-shaped customize button.
  2. Drag pinned cards to rearrange them.
  3. Use Add a metric or the Not pinned area to bring another card into the pinned grid. Drag a card out of the pinned grid to unpin it.
  4. Select the checkmark to leave customization.

On mobile, you can also long-press a card to enter customization.

You can pin up to 12 cards. If you add a card to a full grid, the last pinned card moves into the unpinned collection. Unpinning a card changes your layout; it does not delete data or change other members' layouts.

Layout changes save to your Parable account as you arrange cards. The checkmark exits editing; it is not a separate workspace-wide save. If you see Couldn't save your layout, wait for the requests to finish and check the restored layout before arranging it again.

Outside customization, expand More metrics to see available cards that are not pinned.

Know which period a card uses

Use the campus and date filters near the home tabs when relevant. The date filter changes period-based cards; it does not replace every card's own window or current-state rules.

For example, Total Giving uses the selected period, Weekly Giving compares the current week with its prior-year counterpart, and Birthdays uses the workspace's upcoming-day window. Read each card's description and the opened result before comparing two numbers.

Available cards

The current catalog contains the following 26 cards. “Selected period” refers to the home date filter; a configured window is a shared workspace rule. Connected source data must include the records the card needs.

Engagement coverage depends on the sources and activity already imported. See read a person profile for the current scoring behavior and its limits. A quiet or missing signal does not by itself establish that someone has stopped participating.

Change shared widget rules

During customization, a settings control appears on cards with configurable rules when you have both dashboard-management permissions. These rules apply to the organization, unlike your personal layout.

Open a card's settings, change its available fields, and choose Save. Reset restores the draft defaults; save afterward to apply them. A loading or failed settings read must be resolved before you can save.

Available rules include attendance/dropoff windows, lapsed-giving thresholds, group selection, upcoming-day windows, serving thresholds, and the growing engagement trailing window. Use the fields actually offered by the card.

Engagement Distribution opens engagement settings instead of a widget settings sheet. Most engagement settings require organization-update access to change. Category weights follow data-view access and appear when you can view giving. Being able to open widget settings does not grant these permissions.

Explore a card in Ask Parable

Leave customization, then select a card or its displayed action. On mobile, tapping a card opens its detail drawer; choose View details to continue to chat, or Cancel to close it. Parable starts a fresh conversation about that card. You need permission to start chats and access to the requested data; seeing a summary card does not guarantee access to every record in its detail view.

Check the new conversation's period, campus, and result description. Different cards pass different context. In particular, when the selected Volunteer Attendance period differs from the detail view's fixed 90-day window, Parable sends a question with the selected dates rather than opening that fixed-window view directly.

Opening a card does not create a saved report or change a record. Continue with Ask questions with Ask Parable to check results, return to history, or use an available save or share control. The New Profiles card may open the preview experience, which has no Share chat control.
