Read a person profile

Understand a person's overview, engagement, activity, and the information your access allows you to see.

Find a person in People and select their name to open their full profile. Check the selected organization before interpreting their information. Your access determines the tabs, fields, and activities available in the profile.

For directory steps, see Find and filter people.

Choose the right tab

TabWhat you use it for
OverviewStart with the person's identity and available overview information.
EngagementReview their current tier, warning light, participation breakdown, and contributing activity.
GroupsReview current groups and attendance over the last 13 weeks. A week with no attendance record is not counted as an absence.
CareWork with the care information and actions your Connections access permits. This tab is conditional.
ActivityRead the timeline of synced, tracked events available to you.
MessagesReview available communication evidence when Clearstream and the required access are available. This tab is conditional.

Scoped Connections access can provide a narrower profile. Ask a team manager to review your access if you need other information; a direct profile link does not grant broader permissions.

Read engagement

The Engagement tab usually leads with the person's tier and warning light. When there is not enough score-bearing activity, it can show an Unscored or No activity badge instead of a tier. These signals answer different questions:

SignalWhat it describes
Engagement tierRecent participation according to your organization's scoring settings.
Warning lightWhether activity recency or a drop against the person's own baseline needs attention.
Category breakdownHow available categories contribute to engagement.
Points, when permittedThe numeric score behind the tier, shown in the facts line with an explanatory tooltip.

Use these signals to decide where a personal conversation may be helpful. Activity records describe contact with church life; pastoral context still matters when deciding what to do next.

Parable currently uses seven engagement categories: Attendance, Giving, Groups, Serving, Forms, Events, and Communications. Your organization can configure their contribution. A missing or restricted category is not evidence that the person never participated in it.

See Engagement scoring for the current calculation, defaults, tier cutoffs, and alert settings.

Separate activity from counted engagement

The activity timeline and the score can contain different information. Scoring depends on eligible events, category settings, and completed processing.

Read the coverage notice before comparing the timeline with the score:

  • Scoring hasn't caught up with this church's records yet means the shown events come from the Planning Center sync and are not what the engagement position is counting.
  • Scoring is still catching up with some of this church's records means part of the timeline comes from the Planning Center sync and is not counted in the engagement position yet.

Allow processing to complete and check the notice again before comparing those records with the score.

Engagement scoring has not been calculated for this person yet means the profile has no calculated engagement position to show. It is different from a calculated low tier or either of these states:

  • Unscored means the person is within the new-member grace period without enough score-bearing activity to assess engagement.
  • No activity means no tracked activity has been observed for the person.

The profile does not display the New or No Data warning lights. Those lights remain part of the calculation and Planning Center sync.

Review the activity timeline

Open Activity to review recent tracked events. Read event dates and any coverage note shown above the timeline. Use Load more when it is available to request older activity.

Treat these states separately:

  • Loading means the request is still running.
  • Activity could not be loaded means a request failed.
  • Synced activity could not be loaded means the synced activity request failed; record-merge entries may still be shown. Older activity could not be loaded means a request for more history failed; the already loaded events remain available.
  • No tracked activity has been synced for this person yet means the loaded view has no tracked events available for that person.
  • A coverage note describes a limit or gap in the activity being shown.

An empty visible timeline does not prove that the person has never taken part. Check integration progress, the available time window, your access, and the organization before drawing that conclusion.

Understand giving restrictions

Giving access is separate from the rest of your organization roles:

Giving levelWhat the profile can show
NoneGiving events and the giving breakdown are withheld.
SummaryNon-monetary giving activity and a relative giving breakdown can be available; individual gift amounts are hidden.
FullIndividual gift amounts can be available alongside permitted giving activity.

The profile also applies its other feature and data permissions. Exact score aggregates can be withheld when giving information is restricted. Read the information available to you without treating a hidden amount or category as zero.

The current profile does not provide a separate Giving tab. Use the available engagement and activity views and your team's permitted giving reports.

For the distinction between giving classifications and broader engagement, see Giving stages. To review access, see Access, roles, and giving permissions.
